Dental cleaning

Dental cleaning is a procedure where any harmful substances are removed from the teeth’s surfaces. This substance may include tartar and plaque. Dental cleaning is a procedure that should be done at least twice each year to ensure dental hygiene.

The dental cleaning procedure is only a wee bit different from the dental deep cleaning procedure in that the deep cleaning procedure also involves root planing. Root planning is when the dentist cleaning teeth also removes any parts of the patient’s teeth structures that may be infected and then goes ahead to smoothen the root surfaces. These two procedures blur because most dentists do them as a single procedure.

Like many other dental procedures, the dental cleaning and deep cleaning procedures should be done by a qualified dentist or dental hygiene professional. This is because these professionals use the right equipment and techniques to ensure that the procedures are carried out safely.

During the dental cleaning procedure, the dentist will use various tools (a scaler and a polisher) to ensure that the patient’s teeth are completely clean from plaque and tartar. The polisher is used to “buff” teeth so that tiny plaque pieces can easily be removed. The dentists usually have cleaning heads of different sizes that are meant to clean even places that are not easily reachable. Scalers, which look similar to small metal hooks, are used by the dentist to eliminate hard plaque that may be between the teeth. The dentist may also give the patient a mouthwash solution, so that they may rinse plaque, a number of times during the cleaning procedure.

The dental cleaning cost varies from one dental cleaning dentist to another depending on their expertise on the field and their geographical location.

It is important to note that, just the same way brushing and flossing regularly is crucial to proper dental hygiene, so is visiting a dentist for dental cleaning services at least once every six months.
